Goldfish in one-off Joburg gig
The band will be coming straight from events in Amsterdam and Dubai, bringing home their sophisticated brand of electro-jazz that is said to have made Goldfish one of the hottest electronic acts anywhere on the planet.
What makes Goldfish truly unique, however, is their ability to translate their sound powerfully into the live arena. The diverse musical talent of Dominic Peters and David Poole is best experienced live - when Goldfish uses live instruments and electronic beats to create a full, layered and improvisational style unlike any other.
Reinvention of the DJ
Once you've seen Goldfish's live show you will understand that “Re-invention of the DJ” is about as close as you can get to describing what they do. Combining live instruments like double bass, saxophone, keyboards, flute, and vocals with samplers, effects, synths and a healthy dollop of freeform improvisation, Goldfish has hit a nerve on dance floors across the world.
The “Fishies”, as they are known by their hordes of loyal fans, have just completed an international tour comprising the United States, Brazil, England, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Holland, Lithuania, Russia, Dubai and Egypt.
Along the way they've taken over the reigns from DJ legend Pete Tong to mix the sixth installment of the internationally released Pure Pacha. They also remixed Bob Marley's iconic I Shot the Sheriff and have held down a residency at the world's most famous club, Pacha Ibiza, playing alongside the likes of Basement Jaxx, Will.I.Am, Faithless, Macy Gray and Fedde le Grande.
