Atmosferic at Katzy's
Katzy's is situated in the Firs shopping centre in Rosebank and on Tuesday, 6 October 2009, Atmosferic, the definitive crossover jazz band will be playing.
For those who prefer contemporary adult sounds, Atmosferic synergises elements of tradition with avant garde, blending and groove shifting between swinging standards, acid jazz, rhythmic Latin, retro-funk and smooth á la mode favourites. The sultry, honeyed tones, funky flair and improvisational zest of Wendy Allen Twyford, fused with the deep solid grooves, passionate performance and musical wizardry of Graeme Currie gives you the essence of Atmosferic.
Twyford fronts the outfit as lead vocalist, adding her spice to the mix with spunky Latin percussion. Currie is not called “The Bass Man” for nothing - masterfully transmorphing and shifting the groove on his upright double bass or electric Fender. His hip and ever-evolving musical arrangements, together with her adventurous interpretation, keeps material fresh and organic. These two artists synergise their talents to reinvent old favourites, write original hits and offer audiences unique entertainment alternatives in the form of: Atmosferic - The definitive crossover jazz band; Jazz'Nuova - Showtime jazz with pizzazz.
