Daniel Padiachy, McDonald's head of business and consumer strategy said: “The McDonald's Top Jock Competition is all about celebrating the youth, and fits into our broader 24/7 initiative. We've noticed a growing trend of young South Africans out and about late into the night, working, studying or partying and we want to ensure that our customers have a restaurant to visit whenever their hunger hits them. Currently, 65 percent of McDonald's drive-through restaurants are open 24/7, and we intend to keep the number growing.”
Similar events were held at the University of the Witwatersrand, University of Johannesburg, University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch, University of KwaZulu-Natal and the University of the Free State. All of the competitions were judged by renowned party starter, DJ Euphonik.
