The Machines Battle At ©ontraband
Parkertron (aka Dan Baxter aka DJ Peter Parker) was born in the small town of Crewe in the county of Chesire, England. When he was 21 years old he embarked on a career in music by becoming a Hip Hop battle DJ after being inspired by the movie “Juice”. Baxter, then known as Peter Parker, moved to Manchester where after competing in the final of the UK DMC competition he formed the jazz/hip hop band, Fingathing, with double bass player, Sneaky. The duo performed as part of the backing band for popular Hip Hop/Dance duo, Rae & Christian (Mark Rae was the founder of Grand Central Records as well as the man who discovered Parker). Signed to Grand Central in the UK and Ninja Tunes in the USA, Fingathing enjoyed a great deal of success, touring the world with their mind boggling, high energy shows where Peter Parker would rip up the MPC and decks. Man and machine had begun to get closer. Over the years, Fingathing released 3 full length albums with collaborations from people like Mr Scruff and DJ Noize.
Parker decided to take a break from Fingathing and try his hand at a solo career under the pseudonym of Parkertron. Parkertron describes his new incarnation as “a bit like Darth Vader, meaning [he's] now more machine than man”. He is now also the primary beatmaker of Real Dolls and a renowned DJ whose technical live shows are both awesome and awe-inspiring.
Sibot, the 2002 South African DJ Battle Champion, has been involved in ground breaking collaborative projects since his music career begun in 1998 with SA Hip Hop group, Max Normal. Internationally he has been invited to festivals such as Sonar (Spain) and Pukkelpop (Belgium) and to perform at club gigs in the UK, France, Holland and The Reunion Islands, amongst others.
Sibot has composed some of the freshest music for television. With two Gold Loerie Awards to his name, his recent clients include Adidas Global, Sasol, Metro FM, Cell C, Levi's, Hyundai, WonderBra, BMW and Nokia.
