Texx and the City's 'Texx Talks' podcast debuts with Zolani Mahola

Texx and the City's weekly interview-style music podcast makes its debut with Zolani Mahola as its first guest. In the first episode, Mahola touched on the role of the artist in society, getting deported by an authoritarian regime and feeling your lowest whilst on top.

Mahola can be best described as a South African national treasure. Over her 17 years in the industry, she established herself as the frontwoman of award-winning Afro-pop group Freshlyground, before reinventing herself under her solo moniker as ‘the one who sings’ at the end of 2019.

From getting deported by an authoritarian regime to feeling your lowest whilst on top, Mahola’s journey is one one of boundless optimism and heartfelt glimpses into the mind of this talented storyteller.

Hosted by Tecla Ciolfi (TATC’s founder and editor), the podcast features musicians – who share their highs, lows and the secret to their continued successes in frank deep-dive discussions.
