Two Oceans Aquarium to host 8 bands in 2019 After Dark concert series

The lineup for 2019 After Dark concert series at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town has been announced. From May to August 2019, the aquarium will host eight stellar bands: Shadowclub, Manu Grace, Dangerfields, Twin Weaver, Manny Walters, Luh'ra, The Steezies and Androgenius.

Performing stripped-down acoustics sets, all eight bands will make the most of the unusual setting. The viewing area in front of the I&J Ocean Exhibit will be transformed into a cosy, living room-style setting where you’ll be able to enjoy two bands each evening. Holding 1.6 million litres of seawater, the I&J Ocean Exhibit provides a massive home to stingrays, musselcracker, sea turtles and many more marine creatures. There really is no better or more beautiful backdrop for any event.

The concert series will kick off with Shadowclub and Manu Grace on 29 May 2019.

It’s been 10 years since the start of the club and with the release of Big Green Mamba Dream, the band is excited and energised. Shadowclub won the 2012 Sama (South African Music Awards) for best rock album with Guns and Money, an album that included the chart-topping singles “Good Morning Killer” and “Guns & Money”. The follow-up Sama-nominated Goodbye Wild Child featured the top 40 track “Melanielectriclove”. Back then, the band toured extensively, headlining every major South African music festival as well as touring in Russia, Mozambique, Botswana and Namibia. Looking to pursue different endeavours, the band took a break from Shadowclub and life on the road.

Manu Grace is a multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter from South Africa. Although hesitant to commit to a genre, her music can most accurately be described as “sensitive pop” – unguarded and groovy; appealing to both heart and feet alike.

Tickets cost R295, are limited to 180 people per event and may be booked on Quicket.
