Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes met while pursuing a mutual interest in contemporary music when they then joined the instrumental experimental band Prop, and in 2003 formed the more techno, dance-focused duo, The Presets. The band quickly became recognised for their ability to fuse elements of dance music with energy more akin to that of a rock 'n' roll show. Their single, My People, is the longest charting single in Australian chart history.
After releasing three albums in the last 10 years with 2005's "Beams", 2008's "Apocalypso" and 2012's "Pacifica", 2014 sees The Presets regroup, refocus and refine while 2014's "No Fun" sets The Presets on a nihilist path to techno decadence.
Along with the already-announced line-up of MGMT, Rudimental and Crystal Fighters, The Presets will deliver a change of perspective and a new way of experiencing techno at this year's Vodacom In The City.
