Top ballet teachers to attend WPDTA winter seminar

Two world-renowned ballet teachers, Ana Marie Forsythe from New York and Roxana Barbacaru from Paris, will return to Cape Town to facilitate the master classes in classical ballet and the Horton Pedagogy during the Western Province Dance Teachers Association's (WPDTA) annual winter seminar. The seminar will be held at the studios of the Cape Academy of Performing Arts in the Westlake Office Park from 9 to 12 August 2012.

Forsythe is one of the world's leading Horton experts and is currently the co-director of the Ailey School/Fordham University Bachelor of Fine Arts Programme in New York. She is an internationally acclaimed teacher who has taught at the Ailey school since 1973 and has been chair of the Horton department since 1979.

Madame Barbacaru is presently teaching classical ballet in Paris at the world renowned Paris Opera Ballet School, the National Superior Conservatory and the Regional Conservatory. Romanian by birth, she defected to the West many years ago to pursue her career and to share her expertise and vast experience.
