Comic's Choice Awards winners in one-off gig
This year's Savanna Comic's Choice Awards winners are to perform together in a one-off gig at The Soweto Theatre on 20 September, 2014.
Comic of the Year Award recipient Loyiso Gola is on the bill; so prepare to keel over to his quick wit, intelligent satire and controversial repertoire.
Ventriloquist extraordinaire Conrad Koch, recipient of The Times Comic's Pen Award, promises to impress audiences with his politically charged puppet Chester Missing - who, incidentally, has more Facebook fans than he does!
Cape Town-based Kagiso KG Mokgadi won the breakthrough category and will treat Joburg fans to his deep-voiced gags and relaxed delivery. The son of a journalist-turned-sangoma father and a nurse mother, KG takes his audiences on a unique comedy journey with a glimpse into the "behind the scenes" practices of a sangoma, what it's like having a nurse for a mum, and why he was never able to take a day off sick from school.
Elton Mdu Ntuli is massively entertaining with his hilarious vernacular routine. To top it all off, Lifetime Achiever recipient Mark Banks will host the show. Of the six award winners, only Savanna Newcomer Award recipient Loyiso Madinga is unavailable to complete the line-up due to a prior commitment.
For only R120, fans of comedy will get to enjoy an unprecedented line up of SA's fresh, up-and-coming talent alongside heavyweight industry veterans.
