The Starwood Hotels and Resorts initiative, Room With A View, which launched in South Africa at The Westin Cape Town earlier this month, enables participating Starwood hotels worldwide, to broadcast, via webcam, their enviable and unique locations in real time, to a global audience. Users can explore live webcam feeds of New York's Empire State Building, the Iguazu Falls of Argentina, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Rome's legendary Via Veneto, the Great Pyramids of Giza, London's Big Ben and more.
The Westin Cape Town's webcam, which showcases the hotel's city, harbour and mountain views, offers guests information as to what they can expect of their stay at the hotel. Each landmark, such as the V&A Waterfront and the 2010 FIFA Football Stadium is tagged on the portal page, offering additional information about each attraction. The page also contains a satellite view Google map, which helps guests to pre-plan their trip and discover sightseeing opportunities. The page can be displayed in multiple languages and features YouTube and Facebook integration, photo tagging, real-time data, such as local time and weather conditions, and a booking widget where guests can search latest hotel deals.
Participating hotel and resort brands include W Hotels, Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien, Four Points by Sheraton, Aloft, Element, Luxury Collection and St.Regis.
