The award, to be made at the Hotel Investment Conference Africa (HICA), which will be held at the Fairmont Zimbali Resort in KwaZulu-Natal on 5 and 6 May, will recognise an individual who is making a significant contribution to the growth and development of the tourism and hospitality sector in sub-Saharan Africa.
"The winner will be an individual who is dedicated to investing in people and human development," says Mmatšatši Marobe, CEO of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA), "including capacity building, knowledge transfer, job creation and community development. The person will also be an achiever in terms of service excellence, industry development and environmental preservation."
Nominations were judged by a panel of experts and the judging process overseen by Grant Thornton Strategic Solutions.
The annual investment conference is convened by the TBCSA to stimulate investment in the hospitality industry in sub-Saharan Africa.
