Comfort and affordability with Premier Hotel Cape Manor

Location, location, location; the Premier Hotel Cape Manor has it in spades. It's situated in Marais Street alongside the pretty Sea Point promenade and, if one was a coked-up rocker and had the urge to throw a TV out of the window, it would probably hit beach sand. (Only a slight exaggeration.) My partner in crime and I settled for throwing grapes. Coked-up rockers we are not, but drunken journalists we were (in the wee hours of Sunday morning) and grapes are a lot less dangerous and expensive. Thanks for the complimentary fruit platter Premier Hotel Cape Manor (we did eat most of it).
Comfort and affordability with Premier Hotel Cape Manor

But, silliness aside, the four-star Premier Hotel Cape Manor is a sufficiently classy and affordable hotel, and is a perfect home away from home for leisure travellers and business executives, as mentioned in their press release, or in our case, sprightly retired Germans and Britons and an SA cricket team.

The staff are friendly and attentive, if not a little characterful. Our friendly morning chef seemed to take delight in our hangovers at the breakfast buffet on Sunday morning, (bleurg, I really don't feel like a fried egg thank you very much. Oh, and liver and onions, look away look away). The food, on the whole, was not really one of the highlights. Breakfast (liver and onions aside) was decent and on par with most hotel breakfast buffets, but the dinner, unfortunately, was rather a low point: a buffet as well, it felt more like school canteen then hotel cuisine and the dessert was disappointing all round.

Highlights included the stunning Sea Point views, comfy mattress, thoughtful complimentary fruit platter, while slight niggles include a bathroom door that didn't seem to close completely (slightly awkward when you're sharing the room with someone) and a missing guest directory that never seemed to make its way into our hands.

That said, the Premier Hotel Cape Manor is a comfortable, affordable hotel, situated conveniently close to many touristy things, making it a perfect option for holiday and business travellers.

The Premier Hotels & Resorts Group includes hotels in Cape Town, Pretoria, East London, OR Tambo International in Johannesburg, Pinetown, the South Coast and a game lodge in the Eastern Cape, along with the recent opening of a five-star property in Knysna on the Garden Route. The group is also developing the new East London International Convention Centre.
