Boot Camp at Peninsula Hotel
The completion of each task will be judged by the Peninsula Hotel's GM Chris Godenir and his team while, on the fifth day, all finalists will be interviewed by a panel of judges.
The winner of this year's competition will be awarded a three-year "Ticket To Life" full-time bursary in Hospitality Management or Professional Cookery worth over R150 000, courtesy of the International Hotel School (IHS).
To create a great service ethic
Every year a select few students from the International Hotel School campuses in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban take part in the regional "Boot Camps" at selected hotels.
"The goal is to create a great service ethic, embracing both attitude and productivity. All of this is critical to growth and success in the South African tourism industry," said Godenir.
Meanwhile, the points scored between Kurt and his runner-up, Nadine Mortimer, were so close that Chris decided to award Nadine a spot prize of a three year trainee management position at the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel without which Nadine would not have been able to follow her dream to study Hotel Management.
