Sun City's Valley of Waves set to reopen

The Valley of Waves at Sun City will be reopening in time for Heritage Day on 23 September 2020.

Speaking about the reopening, Sun City general manager Brett HoppĂ© said: “The Valley of Waves is one of our most popular attractions, so we’re delighted that we can open it in time for Heritage Day. We have been inundated with enquiries from people wanting to know when it will reopen.”

The facility was closed at the beginning of lockdown and, despite Sun City’s recent re-opening, Valley of Waves remained closed while the maintenance crew upgraded all of the wave generating mechanisms.

The wave pool contains 10 million litres of water and creates up to six-foot swells high enough for surfing, as they move away from the dam wall at 35km per hour to subside onto a sandy beach, 120m away.

On Wednesday, 23 September 2020, Valley of Waves will operate normally between 9am and 6pm. From the Heritage Day Public Holiday on 24 September through to Saturday, 26 September, the facility will be open to all residents and visitors between 9am and 5pm. It will reopen between 6pm and 9pm for the exclusive use of hotel guests and Sun Vacation Club residents. Operating hours will return to 9am until 6pm from Sunday, 27 September.

“We look forward to making some other exciting new announcements soon,” said HoppĂ©.
