The following South African DJs and musicians are set to play at the Neon Run TM 2016 after party on 14 May: TiMO ODV, Rubber Duc, Goodluck, Dean Fuel, iScream and the Chocolate Stix. See what some of the artists had to say when interviewed in preparation for the Trace Mobile event.
A chat with the Neon Run headline artists

On getting your heart beat going...
Mixing music and fitness go hand in hand, there’s nothing like your favourite song to take your workout to the next level. Here’s what the artists had to say about events that combine exercise and music:
iScream and the Chocolate Stix: “It’s an amazing idea, look at how music is always played in gyms around the country. It’s a great way to get hyped for exercise.”
Rubber Duc: “The majority of people listen to music whilst training in some form, so adding a live music aspect to training creates a really cool atmosphere and something really different and fun to experience. Isn't it so much better to burn calories whilst having fun?”
Dean Fuel: “It’s a great idea! Not only does it make for a fun day out for the whole family, but it exposes people to new experiences, and new music!”
Good Luck: “We think it’s awesome! Events have become so much about lifestyle these days. It’s not enough to throw a party, there has to be an element of fun that comes in, something that is different. Most people love to stay fit and healthy, add music and partying to that and you have the makings of a great event.”

On looking good...

The artists don’t look this good without a little effort behind the scenes, the artists comment on their exercise routines and favourite active-ities:
iScream and the Chocolate Stix: “Gym and hikes up either Table Mountain or Lion's Head and walks on the beach with our band puppy :). But nothing like a good run!”
Rubber Duc: “We travel a lot and there aren't always gyms nearby, so a good ol' run wherever we are is always a good way to get the blood pumping and explore a new place.”
Dean Fuel: “Does dancing count as exercise? Haha – but to be honest, I’m not much of a runner myself ... at the moment I’m doing a lot of yoga actually! I do mix this up with some gym here and there, and I love to swim too!”
Good Luck: “When we’re not touring and playing we love surfing and mountain Biking.”

On the Neon Run experience…

With only two weeks to go there’s no questioning the all round excitement for this event. Here’s what the artists are looking forward to at the Trace Mobile presents Neon Run 2016:
iScream and the Chocolate Stix: The excitement, the hype, the energy at these events! And all the colours! And, of course, the Neon.”
Rubber Duc: “We obviously love seeing beautiful girls in tight neon gym attire, but we are most looking forward to getting on that stage and giving a killer performance!”
Dean Fuel: “The last time I played for them was in 2014 – and there were nearly 20,000 people with their hands in the air and going crazy for my set – it’s impossible not to get excited for that! I think for me, also one of my favourite moments is when the runners come back into the stadium, and you see all the crazy cool outfits, and glowing colours!
The stadium fills up, and the music gets louder – and everyone knows it’s now party time! The energy is incredible, as everyone has the same vibe of accomplishment at having finished the race, and is now ready to get down!”
Good Luck: “We love the Neon Run events because the crowds are so pumped on exercise endorphins that they are always in the mood for a huge party! They also look awesome and colourful which makes the whole thing, fun and light and happy.”

On if they'll be participating...

The Trace Mobile presents Neon run is for everyone! When asked if they’d be running this year this is what the artists had to say:
iScream and the Chocolate Stix: “Not this year, but looking forward to doing it next year. Care to join? ;)”
Rubber Duc: “Yes, nothing like burning an extra few calories before getting on stage to burn some more.”
Good Luck: “Perhaps, we will have to see... we aren’t the best runners!”
Dean Fuel: “I haven’t previously, as I wasn’t able to due to my set being the one when the runners came back into the stadium, but you never know – I think this year could be the year!”

On what’s next…

The party doesn’t stop after the Trace Mobile presents Neon Run, here’s what the artists will be up to this year:
iScream and the Chocolate Stix: “An album launch and tour in June and July. Looking forward to that and meeting up with friends again all around the country. Be on the lookout for a very special collaboration coming soon too!”
Rubber Duc: “We have a line-up of international shows, festivals and events that we are excited about also we can't wait for all of you to hear our album dropping in September. Boom!”
Dean Fuel: “I have four shows coming up in Cape Town this weekend alone, and a hectic touring schedule taking me all across South Africa over the next few months! Neon Run is always one of my highlights – and I look forward to it! I’m also busy in studio – finishing some new music, so look out for that soon!”
Good Luck: “This year we are touring to Europe, Asia and a few other spots and we are releasing a new album towards the end of the year. We are very busy in studio at the moment so hopefully this album is going to be our best yet!”
