Tiny technology that can find pollution in South Africa’s water and trap it




The 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup takes place in Bloemfontein, Rustenburg, Pretoria and Johannesburg, South Africa from the 14th of June until the 29th of June 2009. Football fans from SA and abroad will come together to witness this great tournament and the lucky 96 children chosen to be a part of the Flagbearer programme will be in a position to share the field with their sporting heroes.
The search begins from the 15th of February 2009 and closes on the 15th of March. Each of the 16 matches will have six youngsters chosen as flagbearers. adidas will kit the youngsters out with outfits for rehearsal and for the matches, thereby showing their strong partnership with FIFA and their commitment to the development of football.
Children will be recruited locally per venue:
Johannesburg: 5 matches -> 30 children
Pretoria: 3 matches -> 18 children
Rustenburg: 4 matches -> 24 children
Bloemfontein: 4 matches -> 24 children
adidas and FIFA will have strict guidelines in terms of age and height which will need to be adhered to. There will also be chaperones provided by adidas and CIP, the adidas logistics agency, to ensure the children are supervised and safe at all times.
To enter the competition, young people and/or their parents can collect entry forms at any of the following adidas retail shops across South Africa:
