Mokoena is the reigning World Indoor long jump champion and also won the silver medal at last year's Olympic Games in Beijing.
He will therefore miss the second leg of the Yellow Pages Series in Tshwane on Friday but should be in action again later in the Series.
Mokoena started his new season on a high note at Potchefstroom last Friday when he achieved an IAAF World Championships A qualifying standard of 8,15 metres.
The meeting in Glasgow will provide Mokoena with stiff international competition early in the New Year. The Commonwealth team will compete against teams from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States, Sweden and Germany.
