Bespoke menu
The French Art de Vivre movement was a period of time in which gastronomy, tasting and craftsmanship were all celebrated and enjoyed with style, and gastronomy is at the heart of Martell Cognac's French heritage. Vicky Crease and Caro de Waal, two of South Africa's biggest names in the food world, are the culinary masterminds behind the cognac-paired food experiences at 1715 by Martell Cognac. Luncheons will be hosted by the Martell Cognac brand ambassador. Not only will guests enjoy a bespoke menu designed to complement the unique flavours of the cognac, but they will also have an opportunity to learn more about the finely crafted Martell Cognac range.
Every experience at 1715 by Martell Cognac endeavours to excite all the senses; the dining area features the Martell Cognac 'Pluie' - a bespoke design feature that engages sight and sound. This uniquely designed electronic 'piano' is activated by cognac 'rain' that falls gently from the ceiling to create harmonies that set the backdrop for a languid lunch. These paired luncheons take place every Wednesday and Friday from 12.30pm to 3.30pm and require a reservation in advance.
Another design delight that guests can look forward to seeing at 1715 by Martell Cognac is the Martell Trunk - a unique display piece designed by renowned French luxury malletier, Pinel & Pinel. Endowed with 28 montres that contain the most unique and exclusive blends of Martell Cognac as well as crystal glasses and decanters, rare scented candles and a cigar humidor, this feature is a taste of the luxury and craftsmanship synonymous with Martell Cognac.
A uniquely designed wood and copper bar is a centre piece in 1715's lounge. Glass tubing filled with golden liquid, running from ceiling to floor, creating the illusion of flowing cognac, serves as the backdrop of the bar. This is the perfect spot for guests to indulge in a range of Martell Cognac expressions that include Caractère, Noblige, Cordon Bleu, and Martell XO. Each is a varietal with its own distinct character, and all are available for order at 1715 and for purchase from major retailers across the country. The bar boasts an extensive range of Martell Cognac cocktails, showcasing the versatility of the product.
Nothing sets the tone for a good night out like great entertainment. Guests of 1715 by Martell Cognac can look forward to 'entertainment with a twist'. Old world meets new - jazz artists in collaboration with urban house legends such as Euphonik and Glen Lewis create cool beats that set the mood for the ultimate cognac experience at 1715.
