"Feast of the Grape is inspired by the great harvest traditions of the past, bringing together the community to celebrate the bounty of the season," says winemaker Etienne Louw, chair of the Durbanville Wine Valley Association that organises the event. "Great food, excellent wines, the sensory delight of grape stomping, music, happy crowds and the natural surroundings all work together to create a most memorable festival."

Highlights include tasting the wines of Altydgedacht, Bloemendal, D'Aria, De Grendel, Diemersdal, Durbanville Hills, Groot Phesantekraal, Hillcrest, Klein Roosboom, Meerendal, Nitida and Signal Gun. Wine estate restaurants will prepare signature dishes, while chefs and winemakers have cook-offs to find the Harvest Dish of the Year.

Bake-offs will feature cake and bread-making boffins while blending competitions, tutored tastings and informative wine-chats will please the wine enthusiasts. With its strong family orientation, children's activities will keep the young festival fans entertained in a special Kids Country Zone.

Tickets are R50 from www.webtickets.co.za, with kids under 12 free or a R20 entry to Kids Country Zone. For more information, go to www.durbanvillewine.co.za.
