Park Acoustics, which recently celebrated its 3 year birthday of having the events at the Voortrekker Monument on the last Sunday of every month in Pretoria in May, hosted the first event in the Pretoria Gardens in May 2010. They moved the event to the Voortrekker Monument in February 2011.
Organisers, Niel Groenewald and brothers Henk and Willie van der Schyf, have been thinking of also having Park Acoustics in Cape Town for the past year. Since its inception, they have aimed to be patrons of the performing arts and to create a platform for emerging artists.
They want to bring Park Acoustics to all the Cape Town bands which they have hosted in the past in Pretoria, but also host acts from all over SA at the monthly event in Cape Town. Whilst Capetonians can look forward to something different with more colourful decor, the events will also feature the same amount of excitement, fun and value for money experienced at the Pretoria events.
Park Acoustics Cape Town, also in association with Jack Daniel's similar to Pretoria, will be held every second Saturday of the month at Shelley Park in Salt River. The first one will take place on the 14th of September 2013, and thereafter every month from September to April.
