New Markus Wormstorm album is darkly classical

The new Markus Wormstorm album, "Not I, But A Friend", is a collection of dark classical and electronic arrangements with cinematic narratives, humour, science fiction and political satire. Members of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra formed the songs, alongside opera diva Magdaleen Minnaar and singer Inge Beckmann.

Each song on the album exists as classical notation and was recorded in Milestone and Resonance studio between 2008 and 2010.

The album is free for download and hard copies will be given away at the launch, which will be held in an abandoned mansion in Bishopscourt, Cape Town on 2 February, 2012.

The artwork was created by the artist Elise Wessels and forms part of her exhibition Beast In Mind, which will be exhibited by Salon 91 from 18 January until 13 February.

Having cut his teeth in techno and electro, Wormstorm's fusion of the classical and electronic mediums leads to interesting and often surprising results.
