Girls Only Amazing Space and Look and Feel Good Expo
Cocktails and a hand massage
The next thing, we were all swept off through the Aquarium and into the conference hall where we were told that we'd be doing an Amazing Race around the entire Waterfront. We had challenges to do at each stop. For example, at the One and Only Hotel we had to make a Cosmopolitan (I'm not sure that drinking it was part of the challenge, but we did anyway) and at The Body Shop we were required to give a hand massage. It was a good two hours of running around in the rain and simply having a laugh.
Bagged in the tank
Once back at the Aquarium, we were treated to a presentation by Karim Sattar from The Body Shop in front of the predator tank. Six lucky ladies got the chance to have Body Shop makeover. That isn't the amazing part; it was how they selected these ladies that was amazing. Imagine 60 women sipping liquor and the next minute two men (incredibly gorgeous men) dive in to the tank, in nothing but a pair of board shorts! The widening of eyes was in unison and then the gentlemen began pulling out the names from a bag - in the tank! Well you don't need much explanation to know that the liquor had been forgotten and the men were our new focus.
The event was to remind the media, events planners, wedding planners and businesses that tourism isn't dead and the Aquarium is a fantastic place for many things other than just looking at sea life. It was honestly a night of wonder and perfection, and my congratulations must go out to The Two Oceans Aquarium and the sponsors that made the evening everything any lady deserves.
Looking good, feeling good
The Look and Feel Good Expo was one of the sponsors and this was the next stop on my journey to becoming a "proper" girl. It may seem that an expo such as this is meant only for women; however there were definitely a few things for the men too.
Anything, everything and more that you would need as a women, as well as all the information to go along with it, was in one room. It was a wonder walking around and learning all about make-up, eye creams, laughter workshops, healthy foods, not-so-healthy food, eye puffy reduction and the list goes on. I spent hours in awe at how this is what "girly girls" do and I was drawn into all of it.
Enter the girly girl
If all the exercise from walking back and forth, and standing deciding what to buy, got a little too much for you, then there were stations at which to buy something to nibble and a cup of coffee to recharge and carry on.
So, in conclusion, I started out last week being the non-typical girl I thought myself to be, to converting to a girl with a French manicure, some beauty tips from Karim, all the little bits bought at the expo and a completely new attitude to the world, which comes with being a "proper" girl. And, yes, I'm loving it.
