The butler did it?

We thought we were in for a week of culture overload last week when we had almost the entire week lined up with arty theatre events. Butlers and Brandy was anything but and turned out to be a “comedy to die for!” Either way, I slipped on me Christmas high-heels in an attempt to wear them in and by George it's working, soon I'll be comfy enough to don them for those fashion shows beginning to line up for 2009. But enough about my heels and back to Butlers and Brandy.
The butler did it?

Sponsored by Butlers Pizza, there was a slice or two for free on arrival, sadly though we'd missed out due to showing up a tad bit later than the rest of the crowd. There was one lonely looking slice left, but seriously now, who's gonna snack on the one no one wanted…who knows its history! We all know what happened to the meatball when somebody sneezed…

Each performance of the play is different as the audience gets a say in how the plot progresses. The play is about an upper echelon family whose head of the tree has died and has left a video-taped last will and testament. The family members return to the house to find out what he has left each of them. Things go murderously wrong as each of them starts pegging off one after the other, the heinous villain remaining a mystery till the very end.

Star of the show, Daniel Barnett plays the faithful butler helping the audience have their say in the turn of events. A cast of six makes the play come to life each filling the role of two or more characters each. My favourite is Evelyn Ball, who plays the Benoni red-head maid (in some sassy fish-net stockings mind you), as well as the self-absorbed, melodramatic wife of a poor sod whose realised he's made a mistake a little too late in life and finds himself enticed by the flirtatious advances of said Benoni red-head maid.

Twists and turns make this play enjoyable, however it does come to a rather abrupt ending. Great entertainment; good acting skills stereotyping cultures across the rainbow nation.

PS. You'll never guess who done it!
