Ninth annual Baxter Theatre Dance Festival

Since its inception, the Baxter Theatre's annual Dance Festival has been a platform for over 300 choreographers to present works featuring over 1000 dancers from across the Western Cape. Now in its ninth year, the growth shows no signs of slowing down.

"It's the perfect environment for dance enthusiasts to experience and see work by established professionals, as well as up-and-coming dance practitioners," said Nicolette Moses, associate producer and planning manager of the Baxter. "The festival is here to showcase and celebrate the Western Cape's rich and prolific dance history, the people who have influenced it, and those who are making their mark for the future."

A visceral art form

This year will have over 50 different dance productions in genres including contemporary, neo-classical flamenco, fusion, physical theatre, modern, African, jazz, hip hop, belly, and Indian dancing. And judging by the variety of exceptional talent on opening night, the festival is an ideal way for audiences to sample a range of styles while getting exposed to a visceral art form that transcends language and culture around the world. Don't miss it!

The Baxter Theatre Dance Festival is on until 12 October. Tickets are available from Computicket.
