Maverick to activate Cricket World Cup

Activation and event management agency Maverick Experience Exhilarator announced this morning, Tuesday, 16 November 2010, that it has won the Sportainment Activations account for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup, which will be held across 13 stadia in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh next year. The five-way pitch was a hotly contested one against Indian agencies.

Maverick is the team behind the recent Airtel Champions League T20, the MTN 2010 Fan Zone and the South African launch of PayPal.

According to the agency, this is the first time the ICC has looked for a single supplier to seamlessly integrate the stadium environment into the entertainment arena, as well as all sponsor services and other activations relating to the Cricket World Cup.

"Over the last 11 years, we have deliberately built our business around sustainable growth and this appointment is testament to the fact that there is a place on the global stage for a real, added-value service that builds brands effectively and efficiently," says Andrew Ross, joint MD of Maverick.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as the preferred partner for the ICC as it proves that activation innovations, eventing excellence and home-grown South African ideas truly have a place on the global eventing stage."
