rAge awarded best new expo 2003

rAge, (really awesome gaming event) South Africa's first-of-its kind computer gaming and technology expo - held 10-12 October - was declared a resounding success by organisers (New Age Gaming magazine), exhibitors and visitors alike!

The expo which showcased the latest in games and gaming technology was well-attended by professional gamers, families looking for a fun day and those interested in the latest technologies.

Not only is the organiser pleased, so are exhibitors, visitors and even the host venue. This week saw rAge nominated as the 'best new exhibition of 2003' by Northgate Dome. The award is based on how the event compliments the venue, entertainment value for visitors, exhibitor control, general appearance of the show and publicity generated. The event is the brainchild of New Age Gaming Magazine (NAG) and was communicated via PR and branding by The Lime Envelope and co-ordinated by T2 Events.

rAge introduced new products such as the new Nokia N-Gage, a cellphone cum gaming console, the new Satin Silver PlayStation 2 (introduced by silver-clad babes) and the introduction of Halo, Microsoft's new first person shooter game among others. In addition to all the "newbies", visitors enjoyed non-stop playing and the 500 LAN (Local Area Network) fanatics were battling at their PC's non-stop! Another firm favourite was the anime theatre which had visitors glued to the big screen to catch up on the latest releases from Japan, undoubtedly, the Hollywood of Japan. DJ Roger Goode delivered an electrifying performance on the Saturday afternoon with his usual suave on the decks with an opportunity for fans to get autographs thereafter!

"We are extremely satisfied with the event, especially that we had excellent exhibitors, fantastic attendance and didn't experience any technical glitches," says Michael James, editor of New Age Gaming magazine and organiser of rAge. "This is definitely the beginning of greater things to come, our aim for next year is to fill up The Dome's entire floor space and obviously, move with the times by once again showcasing the hottest games, gadgets and goodies!" concludes James.
