Jessica Wolf wins Young Photographers Competition
The National Geographic Kids Young Photographers Competition, which drew in over 2 200 entries in the categories Animals, I Love South Africa, People and That's Funny, has announced the overall winner is Jessica Wolf for her shot of five dolphins near Nature's Valley.
The judges were impressed with her control of a camera on a moving boat and that she managed to get five dolphins leaping out of the water in one shot.
The March issue of NG Kids has the finalists and winner of the competition, sponsored by Spur Steak Ranches. "The level of creativity and the quality of photographs we received was extraordinary," says the magazine's editor Fiona Thomson, "but we were most impressed by the finalists' imagination, simplicity and originality."
Each of the twelve finalists wins a Spur meal voucher, a year's subscription to the magazine, a Nikon Coolpix S3100 camera and a pair of Nikon Action binoculars. Wolf's prize package includes a Nikon D3100 camera and a family holiday at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, courtesy of The Shamwari Group.
This competition is run annually along with Young Artists, Young Chefs and Young Conservationists.
