First ever walkers Guide in Runner's world

The October issue of Runner's World includes the first ever 'Walkers Guide'. The guide covers all the details of the Cape Times FNB Big Walk which takes place on October 10. More than 26 000 people will be taking part in what is the biggest growing sport in the country.

"The guide itself may be focussed on the Cape Times FNB Big Walk but we are distributing the booklet nationally since most of the content of the booklet is relevant to anyone who uses walking as their main form of fitness," Runner's World Editor Mike Finch said. "It's the biggest growth sport in South Africa at the moment and the booklet is the perfect resource for anyone wanting to start walking or improve their experience and performance."

SHOULD YOU RUN NAKED?

Amby Burfoots' theory is that the ancient Olympians were a lot smarter then we are when it came to sports. Competing naked made their cooling system more efficient, something which would have helped many of the 2004 marathoners in Athens for the Olympics last month. The Americans did extensive research to help their athletes cope in the extreme heat. Runner's World provides some of those highlights to help you.

Olympic Marathon Exclusive

In an exclusive interview, Runner's World editor Mike Finch talks to Hendrik Ramaala about what seemed like a tactical blunder in his attempt for glory in the Olympic marathon.
