House and Leisure goes arty
The April issue of House and Leisure, out now at all leading bookstores, retailers and magazine stands, is ‘The Art Issue' featuring a roundup of South African art, artists and art lovers. It also covers major art events such as the Joburg Art Fair and the Spier Contemporary in showcasing the amazing talent that is uniquely home-grown and inspirational on all levels.
“This is a bumper issue for all things art,” says Naomi Larkin, editor of House and Leisure magazine. “While compiling this month's issue we were struck by what South Africa's visual artists and designers are achieving and by the extraordinary reach of their artistic endeavours both locally and internationally.”
The issue includes the Johannesburg apartment of the Joburg Art Fair founder and director, Ross Douglas; Pretoria fashion designer Anisa Mpungwe and Ellerman House's GM Nick Dreyer gives his thoughts on South Africa's very own Monet and what art to buy now.
“From limited-edition 2020 FIFA World Cup Official Art Posters to artist Neil Rodger's Port Elizabeth home, from Johannesburg apartments and designer pizza to kitchen solutions, we did not leave a single page untouched by the art brush. Just as Woodstock's broken windows make way for a fresh new view on the world and a home for art in Cape Town, we hope this issue will inspire and encourage everyone to take a new look at South African art,” concludes Larkin.
