Top lodge, spa, restaurant in KZN
The 2009 Best of SA competition, celebrating the country's top lodge, spa, hotel and restaurant, as voted for by House and Leisure readers, saw KZN win three of the four categories.
The award winners, sponsored by House and Leisure magazine in association with Visa, will appear in a 34-page local travel supplement inside the November issue of House and Leisure on sale from Wednesday, 21 October 2009.
Winners
Lodge:
Winner: The Homestead, Phinda Resource Reserve (KwaZulu-Natal)
Runner-up: Singita Sweni (Mpumalanga)
Spa:
Winner: Fordoun (Nottingham Road, KwaZulu-Natal)
Runner-up: Angsana Spa (Cape Town, Western Cape)
Hotel:
Winner: The Owner's Cottage, Grande Provence (Franschhoek, Western Cape)
Runner-up: Cybele Forest Lodge and Spa (White River, Mpumalanga)
Restaurant:
Winner: Hartford House (Mooi River, KwaZulu-Natal)
Runner-up: Marianas (Stanford, Western Cape)
“This year KwaZulu-Natal excelled, winning three of the four categories,” says Naomi Larkin, editor of House and Leisure magazine. “Each of the winning destinations has a unique South African touch and a global appeal, and deserves to be named the Best of South Africa.”
