Small and medium businesses get their own monthly section in Business Day

Tuesday, June 17 2003 marks the launch of a new monthly supplement to Business Day, called Real Business, specifically designed to meet the needs of South Africa's high-potential SME sector.

The aim of Real Business is to provide SMEs - including owners and managers - with practical information that can help them build their enterprises, while helping expand the South African economy. Editor Colin Anthony says Real Business will focus on case studies of business problems and solutions, as well as provide tools and a network forum to aid business managers and owners. Content also includes day-to-day operational topics along with human resources, management and marketing advice. Other services will also be provided.

Real Business will not limit itself to any particular size of business, but will cater to the widest possible audience - entrepreneurs who are at personal risk, who take chances and who are innovative.

The print edition of Real Business will form the core of the concept, but its second phase is equally exciting. Real Business Network will provide a forum for business people to interact while exploring broader opportunities. Real Business networkers will be able to connect with other members online and gain access to Real Business archives. Members can also source specific information and gain access to member-only special offers. There will also be a chat room and forums to exchange ideas. Real Business will host hands-on seminars and educational programmes for club members. Look out for the Real Business Network launch later in the year.

Real Business founding partners include South African powerhouses Business Day, the Industrial Development Corporation, Microsoft, MTN and Standard Bank. Real Business will form the third section of Business Day, published on the third Monday of every month, following its Tuesday, June 17 launch.
