2013 Time Freight Kei Mouth Challenge draws closer

The fourth annual Time Freight Kei Mouth Challenge is all set and ready for a smooth running and exciting event on the weekend of 26-27 February 2013. With the introduction of the new Canoe Challenge, this four event extravaganza is expected to attract over 400 entries and will provide all weekend entertainment for Easter Cape locals and spectators.

This now extremely popular four discipline event tests participants' abilities and provides outdoor activities for the entire family. With tough mountain bike, trail run, road cycle and canoe courses, there is something for every outdoor enthusiast.

The whole of Saturday has been set aside for the 25km and 50km mountain bike races. With the majority of the course being set on Jeep and single tracks with one massive hill thrown in the mix, this event is not for the feint hearted, ask last year's winners Jason Peach, Jenny Opperman and Shannon Kirchoff.

Sunday provides a little more variety in events: the 15km trail run, set on mostly flat Jeep and single tracks, may seem like a walk in the park but still requires endurance. The 80km and 50km road cycle races are set on one of the best and safest newly tarred roads were cyclists can enjoy the pristine views of Kei Mouth. The new canoe race, set on the Kei River itself, will be done is 4km laps and is the newest edition to the challenge.

Lucky draw mountain bike prize

With a lucky draw for a top class mountain bike as well as other great prizes such as weekends away for two provided by long-time sponsor, Time Freight, this event will be more than your average sporting challenge. Time Freight's CEO, Etienne van Ravesteyn, say, "With this sponsorship, Time Freight aims to increase and build on its brand exposure in the East London area where we have a significant client base but with potential to attract new and retain existing clients. Our support also serves to illustrate a commitment to the development of a healthy and competitive lifestyle which we believe is in the interests of our business and the broader community."

Time Freight Kei Mouth Challenge organiser, Fjord Jordaan invites the whole family to come to the event, "Other than watching their loved ones competing, the event is hosted at the Bush Pig Pub & Grill; a traditional coastal resort, family resort and bar. Hamburgers, sea food and refreshments will be on sale. All the events will be around the town and spectators can experience the town and view their loves ones at the same time."

To enter, visit any of these cycle shops: Cycle HQ, Cycle Lab, Cycle Torque or East London Cycles. If you have not yet entered, entries will still be accepted with a R20 late entry penalty. For more information of the Time Freight Kei Mouth Challenge Event, go to www.ecmtb.co.za.
