Samsung hosts bada 2.0 race
Now in its second year, the bada Power App Race competition will formally launch bada 2.0 to mobile applications developers, inspiring them to create innovative new applications using the bada 2.0 SDK. A total of 10 applications - including five game applications, and five non-game applications - will be selected and rewarded with prize money totalling USD1 million. Furthermore, winning applications will receive the "Power App" mark at Samsung Apps, exclusive marketing and promotion benefits.
"We are excited to launch the bada 2.0 Power App Race, which will help boost the bada developer community by encouraging innovation in bada apps from developers all around the world," said Brett Loubser, B2C apps development lead of Samsung. "Since its launch, Samsung has improved the competitiveness of bada as a truly global platform, with significant success for bada in markets ranging from Eastern Europe to China. We are committed to supporting developers around the world to grow and nurture the bada ecosystem and take part in this success."
The public decides
Where other application contests are typically judged by contest organisers, Samsung's Power App Race is decided by the public, with consumer sales determining winning entries. Prizes will be awarded to the first 10 Bada 2.0 applications that achieve 100 000 accumulative downloads at the Samsung Apps store. The winners will be announced on the Bada Developers site.
Developers who wish to participate should register directly on the bada developer site. Entries are now open and will close at midnight on 31 December 2011. Developers can enter as many applications as they wish.
