Judges appointed for Climate Change Leadership Awards

Judges for the 2012 Climate Change Leadership Awards, which opened for entry in August 2011, have been announced.

The judges are:


  • Kevin James - CEO of Global Carbon Exchange, head of adjudicators
  • Andre Nel - sustainable development manager at Pick n Pay
  • Ant Dane - consultant at Incite Sustainability
  • Harmke Immink - senior carbon advisor at Promethium
  • Kgabo Mokgohloa - SA Post Office
  • Pancho Ndebele - founding director of Emvelo, chair of the Southern Africa Solar Thermal & Electricity Association (SASTELA) and board member of the UK sustainable development "think tank", the International Institute for the Environment and Development (IIED)
  • Valerie Geen - director of the National Business Initiative's Climate and Energy Unit.

Categories for entry include Agriculture and Food; Energy, Minerals, and Industrial; Financial Services; Corporate Services; Retail; and SME.

There are overall prizes in the Private Sector category which are trophies, first edition stamps, media coverage on Talk Radio 702 and Cape Talk 567, coverage on the CCLA website, inclusion in media press releases, and an invitation to the CCLA 2012 tree planting for carbon offset event as well as acknowledgement as a climate change leader.

The awards close for entries on 30 January 2012 with winners announced in March 2012. Entrants are judged on their strategic commitment, disclosure, performance, advocacy and influence.
