Showcasing energy efficient design

Eskom's stand at this year's Design Indaba showcased the winners and finalists of the 2010 Energy Efficient Lighting Design Competition (EELDC). The annual competition is open to students and professionals in the fields of architecture, interior designing, lighting specialists, engineering and anyone else with a passion for designing energy efficient lighting.

The competition demonstrates that efficient lighting technologies such as fluorescent technology and LEDs can be used in ultramodern and attractive luminaires for residential lighting. It aims to encourage the design of creative, cost-effective luminaires, while promoting the use of compact fluorescent lamps in the residential sector.

Anyone interested in participating must keep an eye out for advertisements announcing the opening of the 2011 competition, visit www.eskom.co.za/idm or www.lighting-design.co.za for information during the months of May - July when the competition normally starts.
