Makeover for Plascon, new showroom offers private consultations

The Plascon Spaces Showroom at The Design Quarter in Fourways has opened with a new name and a new look. Formerly known as Plascon's Living Concepts Showroom, it now offers a showroom as a resource for decorators, designers, homeowners and architects to tap into expert advice on paint, colour and design across the range.

Says Claire Bond, of the Plascon Spaces Showroom, "Our showroom takes away that intimidation one feels when confronted with many paint products and colour choices. Our job is to make it easy."

Consultation service

Professional and amateur design enthusiasts can book a private, one-on-one consultation with a consultant at the showroom. Each consultation aims to educate, inform, advise and provide suggestions on colours and products using a digital render of a space to see what works best.

Prior to their consultation, visitors are encouraged to email floor-to-ceiling photographs of the space they wish to change, including furniture and décor items intended for the space and inspirational magazine clippings they identify with. Using on-site tools, the consultant will then prepare digitally generated "before and after" mood boards, which will be presented during the consultation.

The photos of the space are also then to demonstrate how each colour will look on the walls and whether the colour complements the room with the furniture and décor.

"Painting can be an expensive exercise and this digital feature helps to make sure you are choosing the correct colour before you purchase."

For those who are thinking about making some changes and are not ready to commit to an appointment, the showroom is open for them to pop in and browse, touch the products, pick up a few brochures and shop for a couple of paint sample pots.

The team at the showroom are passionate about paint, colour and design and are eager to share their skills with those looking for help. George Luvalo, one of the colour consultants at the showroom, adds, "I cannot believe that we are paid to play with colour all day and have fun scouting the latest's trends and directions in décor."
