Entrepreneurial winners announced

Earlier this year, Hansa Pilsener announced its Special Ingredient Competition, which offered six entrepreneurs the opportunity to kick-start their way to success by winning R25 000 worth of support in the categories of creative and business. It was searching for young dreamers who see the world differently and it has found them.

The six winners are Tshepo Makgoba, Jonas Mathekga, Phumile Sibiri, Betty Mokowena, Mthunzi Mavumbegwana and Xolani Sithole, who honoured at an event hosted at Johannesburg's Turbine Hall on 22 October 2011.

"These aspiring entrepreneurs have demonstrated the precise spirit of entrepreneurialism we seek to award through the Secret Ingredient Competition," explained Hansa Pilsener's GM, Mosidi Seretlo, adding that the aim of the competition was to encourage self-empowerment among South Africa's entrepreneurs. "The six winners chosen have the ideas and the drive that we would like to see displayed by all South Africans."

The six were selected from entries shared on the website or YFM. The top 60 entrants were invited to participate in a preparation class, where they learned how to hone their ideas and skills and from this, the top 40 were selected. A panel of judges, assessing business and creative ideas respectively, then selected the winners.

Judges included Mo Flava, Sifiso Ndwandwe, Sechaba Morojele, Piliswa Qamata, Mduduzi Nkosi, Manaka Ranaka, Vincent Moloi and Lebo Gunguluza.

"This year's entries were of a very high standard, showing that South Africans are starting to think out of the business box," Seretlo concluded.
