Local grains weaken as rand firms

At 12.20pm on Wednesday, 8 April, the rand was trading at R11.7883 to the greenback from a Tuesday close of R11.8862.

The white maize contract due for delivery in July 2015 was down R12.20 to R2‚550.80 a ton and the September 2015 contract fell R11 to R2‚592 a ton. The contract due for delivery in December 2015 shed R17 to R2‚635 a ton.

The yellow maize contract due for delivery in July 2015 lost R7 to R2‚340 a ton and the September 2015 contract was down R11.80 to R2‚374.20 a ton. The contract due for delivery in December 2015 lost R1.20 to R2‚411.80 a ton.

The wheat contract due for delivery in July 2015 was unchanged at R3‚905 a ton‚ the September 2015 contract edged down R5 to R3‚840 a ton. The December 2015 contract was untraded.
