iThemba Ladies Day aims to raise funds for cancer
Funds are raised through ticket sales as well as through a silent auction which takes place during the event. The event offers a three course lunch, a Avon Justine goodie bag, some spot prizes and some inspirational talks and entertainment for only R500 a ticket.
Last year R130 500 was raised from the ticket sales with just over R18 000 being raised from the silent auction. This year there will also be an iThemba stand where attendees can buy special iThemba pink products including the iThemba pink earrings set and the iThemba silver jewellery box.
Workshops in hospitals and clinics
Proceeds from the sale of the iThemba products will go into the iThemba Fund while funds raised through the ticket sales and the silent auction will all go towards "Look Good... Feel Better", an organisation that helps women undergoing cancer treatment in a practical and empowering way. The non-profit organisation holds workshops for these women in hospitals and clinics across the country.
Avon Justine also provides yearly product donations to the value of R150 000 to "Look Good...Feel Better" for their workshops. "Our relationship with 'Look Good...Feel Better' is one that we are really proud of because the difference that the organisation makes in these women's life is amazing," says Vicky Saunders, internal communications and corporate affairs manager of Avon Justine.
The work with "Look Good...Feel Better" falls under the iThemba Crusade of Hope's breast cancer awareness and education initiatives. The Avon Justine iThemba Ladies Day precedes the Avon Justine iThemba Walkathons which take place on Sunday, 21 October at Marks Park in Johannesburg and Sunday, 4 November at the Green Point Common Sports Field in Cape Town.
