Soy, lactose and gluten free shake from Herbalife
The most common allergens are gluten, lactose and soy, and allergies are identified through the body's inability to process certain foods. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley and is strongly linked to Celiac disease. Lactose intolerance is estimated to affect 75% of adults worldwide, who have shown increasing intolerance during adulthood. Soy allergies affect 300 million people worldwide.
In 2009, the food intolerance market in EMEA had a retail value of €2.5 billion.
"We are excited to be bringing this innovative product to South Africa. Our global network allows us to conduct research efforts to create products that will make a positive and sustained difference in people's lives," says Lesley-Anne Thornton, country director for Herbalife Southern Africa.
Clinical studies conducted by the University of Ulm in Germany have shown that daily usage of meal replacement shakes contribute to weight management along with moderate exercise. The study shows that when counting calories, drinking two Formula 1 shakes as meal replacements is a more effective way to manage weight than a conventional food diet.
