Only three gold medals were awarded in the Sauvignon Blanc category, one of which was scooped by KWV, a second consecutive gold winner in its category. The Paarl Trophy for Champion Merlot was awarded to KWV, in addition to this varietal having received a gold medal. Gold medals were also awarded to KWV's Shiraz and Pinotage wines, with the latter further achieving a best accolade in its class. These gold medal winners, together with the Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot winners, are destined for KWV's premium range of wines.
