SA does well at Decanter Wine Awards

The Decanter Award results, announced Tuesday, 18 May 2010, at the London International Wine fair saw South Africa gain nine trophies, 15 gold, 62 silver, and over 170 bronze medals.

Reportedly the world's largest wine competition on basis of number of entries, this year's competition included well over 10 000 wines.

GlenWood Vineyards won one of the four Chardonnay trophies, continuing its seven-year run of awards. Its Chardonnay Vigneron's Selection 2008 also won National Champion Chardonnay at the Novarre Terroir Wine Awards 2009 and a 4½ star accolade in the Platter's guide. Awards won by previous vintages include gold at the Trophy Wine Show, the Veritas Awards and Mundus Vini in Germany; and four stars in Wine magazine, amongst others.
