Dulux offers superior contractors' paint
Dulux Trade R&D executive Tony Pillay, who headed the team that originally formulated this paint, explains, “What is different about this paint is its in-can structure. The nature of the viscosity or rheology of the paint is that it appears very thick in the can, but the structure has been engineered to allow contractors to load the paint directly from the can and still the paint spreads easily when rolled onto a wall. It has superior adhesion to cement-based surfaces and offers the best smooth coating on the market in a two-coat application.”
Bridging the cracks
Further advantages include flexibility to enable it to bridge hairline cracks and allow for marginal movement in the substrate and a fungicide that inhibits mould growth on the paint film, ensuring it stays cleaner for longer and making it particularly suitable for use in changeable weather.
Its sustainability properties and low VOC levels reduce any harmful impacts on the environment. As ICI Dulux head of trade marketing Xavier Rijmenans explains, “Your choice in paint can have serious implications on the environment. Huge strides in technology have enabled environmentally-conscious paint manufacturers to develop ‘greener' paints, which means, today there is no need to have a paint that visually enhances the appearance of a building but impacts negatively on the environment.”
It is available in 84 exterior colours and offers a solution to exterior painting requirements in harsh South African weather conditions.
