New man in Sarie's kitchen
Sarie, one of the country's biggest-selling women's glossy, has appointed a talented young man to wear the apron as its new food editor. Herman Lensing is taking over from Barbara Joubert, who in turn will focus on Sarie Kos, the food brand extension launched in September 2007.
Newly appointed Sarie food editor, Herman Lensing
Lensing, who completed his studies with distinction at the Institute of Culinary Arts (ICA) in Stellenbosch, specialised in Media and Food Theatre and has also completed a City & Guilds diploma in Food Preparation. He completed his internship at Myoga restaurant in Cape Town's Vineyard Hotel, as well as at Ile de Pain in Knysna. He further honed his skills as a freelance food writer, stylist and food assistant on well-known titles like Visi, Taste and Elle.
Lensing's love of food is refreshing. “I'm a food person, heart and soul. To cook good food is undoubtedly one of life's greatest joys, and as Sarie's new food editor I can't wait to cook with the readers. I want to do what Sarie does best: inspire each and every reader.”
Sarie and Sarie Kos editor, Michélle van Breda, is equally excited about Lensing's appointment. “Sometimes someone crosses your professional path and reminds you of the huge passion and creativity in our industry. Herman's love of food and all things South African, and his creative spirit, is contagious. He will no doubt make an inspirational contribution to Sarie's food pages, and also work in great synergy with Barbara Joubert, food editor of our very successful quarterly Sarie Kos. As a team I believe they will be unbeatable,” says Van Breda.
