New magazine for "home-lovers"

Durban-based Famous Publishing has launched a new glossy magazine for the Hirsch's group. Geared for "people who love their homes", the simply titled HIRSCH'S launch addition will be made available to customers this week.
New magazine for "home-lovers"

The magazine is the brainchild of Allan and Margaret Hirsch and the the first edition focuses very much on the story behind the company.

"Allan and Margaret Hirsch and their grown-up children Richard and Luci have always had an affinity with the media. The amazing success story of the family's Hirsch's group of stores has ensured their pictures and names are always in the press or on radio, especially in their home province of KwaZulu-Natal. In fact Margaret had a secret hankering to be a journalist. When I was editor of the Sunday Tribune she approached me to write a consumer column," says editorial director David Wightman.

Now such is the growth of the company they are able to launch their own magazine.

The magazine will give you a glimpse not just of the workings of the business and staff, but into the lives of the Hirsch family and what drives them. Read about their humble beginnings and their plans now to cater for their customers nationally and internationally in the future.

More importantly, the publication is a display cabinet for the firm's suppliers, appliances and technology they provide, giving guidance on what's hot and what to look out for.

The aim of future editions is to be informational and to answer frequently asked questions, such as what's the difference between LCD and plasma television screens?

"Our aim is to provide a magazine that is not only an attractive addition to your coffee table, but one that it is packed full of useful tips and information you will want to keep," says Wightman.

Hirsch's magazine follows successful publications out of the Famous Publishing stable including The Ridge, The Crest, PIVOT and The Point, as well as various KwaZulu-Natal golf estate magazines.
