The competition has become the largest officially recognised wine contest in the world, this year welcoming a record-breaking 4 925 entries from 35 countries. In terms of the rules, however, no more than 30% of the wines entered may be awarded medals, which adds another keen competitiveness to the event. La Motte received the following awards this year:
* Gold for the 2005 Shiraz Viognier from their Pierneef collection
* Silver for the 2004 Millennium from their classic range
To date, the estate has won the following awards in 2007:
* Five gold awards at the annual Concours Mondial de Bruxelles competition. The La Motte wines that won gold are the: 2005 Shiraz, Millennium, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005 Chardonnay and the estate's 2005 Pierneef Shiraz Viognier
* Gold for its 2005 Pierneef Shiraz Viognier at the International Wine Challenge
* The South African Shiraz trophy and the South African Red Wine Trophy for the 2005 Pierneef Shiraz Viognier.
