Building Compliance Officer

Helderberg Village, in Somerset West, is seeking an experienced Building Compliance Officer to join our estate management team.
This hands-on technical role is suited to a building inspector, building compliance officer or built-environment professional with strong residential construction and inspection experience.

Key responsibilities:

• Review building and alteration applications and plans.
• Inspect works against approved plans and Village requirements.
• Identify unauthorised work and non-compliance.
• Administer contractor registration and building-site requirements.
• Maintain accurate building and alteration records.
• Conduct compliance inspections for properties being marketed for sale.
• Liaise with residents, contractors and built-environment professionals.

Minimum requirements:
Relevant three-year built-environment qualification, preferably NQF 6 or higher:

• Minimum 5 years' relevant practical experience.
• Sound knowledge of the national building regulations and SANS 10400.
• Strong plan-reading, inspection, report-writing and administrative skills.
• Valid Code B driver's licence.
• Advantageous: SACPCMP building inspector registration, municipal or residential-estate experience, City of Cape Town/DAMS knowledge and sectional-title experience.
