Now in its sixth year, the programme provides sponsorships to eligible undergraduate students studying ICT-related qualifications and skills programmes at South African universities, TVET colleges, registered private colleges and other accredited higher education institutions.

Who can apply?

Applicants must be South African citizens and either currently studying or intending to enrol in an ICT-related field at a South African institution. They must also be committed to pursuing a career in the ICT sector.

Preference will be given to historically disadvantaged individuals.

Postgraduate students and applicants already receiving funding through another bursary or scholarship are not eligible. Previous employment or experience in the IT industry is not required.

The programme is aimed at areas where critical skills shortages have been identified, with the sponsorship providing financial support towards qualifying studies.

Beyond financial support

Successful recipients can also apply for the ISPA Fellowship Programme and participate in ISPA industry working groups.

These opportunities provide exposure to industry standards, emerging technologies, policy discussions and developments within South Africa's internet sector, as well as opportunities to connect with professionals working in the industry.

Aurora Vani, chairperson of ISPA's Social Development Working Group, said developing digital talent would be important to South Africa's future.

"South Africa's digital future depends on the talent, innovation and diversity we nurture today," Vani said.

The programme is driven by ISPA's Social Development Working Group and forms part of the association's skills development initiatives in South Africa's internet and technology sectors.

Applications can be submitted through the ISPA Inspires website. ) before the 30 October deadline.
