SA 2014 maize crop finalised at 14.25-million tons
SA has finalised the 2014 maize crop at 14.25-million tons‚ the Crop Estimates Committee said on Friday.
The final maize crop is 0.4% less than the last September forecast but is nevertheless the biggest harvest since 1981 when yields were at 14.65-million tons.
The committee said sunflowers were finalised at 832‚000 tons‚ which is 2.5% less than the previous forecast‚ while soya-beans were finalised at 948‚000 tons‚ which is 0.4% more than the previous guidance.
