UWC alumna named as minister of justice, Namibia
Yvonne Dausab, an alumna of the University of the Western Cape's Faculty of Law, has been appointed as the minister of justice of Namibia, effective 22 March 2020.
Dausab was admitted as a legal practitioner in Namibia in 2000 and has served as the regional coordinator of the Southern Africa Human Rights NGO-Network from 2001 to 2005 in Lusaka, Zambia.
She studied at UWC from 1993 to 1997, where she completed the BA (Law) and LLB degrees. She also obtained an LLM degree in Human Rights and African Democratisation, from the University of Pretoria, and a Certificate in Disability Law from the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2015.
